Abstract

Electoral participation, as an important form of political participation, is important in discussions of political sociology and sociology of elections. Modernization theory is one of the major theories to explain electoral participation. Part of the impact of modernization on political participation is done through education. This paper shows that the effect of education on electoral participation is more complex than it is emphasized that modernization theory. This article examines the educational development and electoral participation through critical review of other studies, secondary analysis and Sub-national comparative study. Looking at the overall statistics, the literacy rate of electoral participation between 1978 to 2005, there is a contrasting relationship that is inconsistent with the findings of other researchers. This article article is intended to report on this relationship. This analysis showed that nine presidential elections, despite the findings of other researchers, there is not a direct positive relationship between Literacy rates of electoral participation. Given the fact that our data were limited, efforts will be the seventh presidential election (1997) to be analyzed as a case study. Comparison showed in 1997 in the provinces of Iran, between electoral participation and the literacy rate, there is a contrasting relationship as an inverted U shape. Subgroup analysis showed that participation in elections directly related to education and electoral participation is more complex than the theories of modernization. The results showed a relationship between educational development and political participation is determined by the the type of literate people's jobs and their dependence on government.

Abstract

This article examines the relationship between space, class and capital in the city of Tehran. The main aim of this study is to show how the country's capital is moving into the housing and real estate sector in Tehran, and Tehran urban land areas become suitable place for the reproduction of the capital and also the relationship between the urban classes and urban areas affected by the function and the performance of the capital. The theoretical approach of this article is mainly influenced by the David Harvey's approach. The Method of This article based on secondary analysis of data which produced by Official centers such as the Iran’s Central Bank and the Municipality of Tehran. Results show that shifting unequal national production into the housing sector and also the real estate market in Tehran and besides the creation of economic inequality in the housing and real estate market based on the cost of housing in household budget and also the geographical distribution of different classes and groups creating unequal urban spaces in contemporary Tehran, which this process, in a Marco sphere, leads to the reproduction of social inequality and stratification.

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to analyze and critique the situation of higher education in Iran from the perspective of the development of democratic university spaces.And it seeks to answer this fundamental question:From the perspective of professors and based on the Emancipatory classroom of higher education in Iran in the dimensions of the development of democratic university spaces, what challenges does it face? Therefore,using Fairclough critical discourse analysis method and relying on semi-structured interviews with eight university professors -at the discretion of the researcher and with the approval of eight professors of educational sciences-the theoretical adequacy of the data was announced and then implemented and described in three stages.And interpretation and explanation were analyzed. The results showed that professors' discourse includes a large number of concepts that express professors' protest and dissatisfaction with the common monologue-based discourse in academia and the classroom, so that the role of teachers' agency and activity is marginalized and leads tothe creation Banking education and the reproduction of discourse have become dominant, and at the same time, in parallel with this situation,a new discourse is emerging that seeks to change and reform things, which in a sense can be called the discourse of resistance.

Abstract

Social mobility takes shape of a physical aspect which makes it possible to translate downward mobility in the physical space. Huge inflation and decrease of purchasing power during the recent years have led to downward mobility of middle class in Iran. Various facets of decrease in physical and social space have to be studied. For this purpose, 20 cases who had experienced such situation have been interviewed. Making use of the most famous coding family of grounded theory, this research categorizes the interviews into contexts, causes, turning points, consequences of involuntary exit from city or neighborhood, and strategies of the outcasts. The research shows that people long after move to new place assume that residence in the new place is temporary. They are ashamed of ascribing themselves to that place trying to actively keep distance from the inhabitants. This along with exclusion from family-friend network of relations and the isolation resulted from this exclusion diminishes any possibility for their political agency in order to make a change in the state of affairs.

Abstract

 Social alienation means disgust, isolation, sense of lack of identity, cut off from society and finally the feeling of socio-cultural anomie in the modern society. The main purpose of this research is to study the factors affecting social alienation by meta-analysis method in the period of 1387 to 1401. The research method is Meta-Analysis (quantitative), its statistical population is 51 documents, of which 29 researches are a non-probability sample size from the Normex scientific database, Alamnet, Meg Iran, Jihad University database, with compliance with the entry criteria (validity and reliability) and the exit criteria ( lack of validity and reliability). The results show that between cultural capital (embodied, institutionalized and symbolic); social capital (weak social cohesion, low social trust and low social belonging); cultural factors (individualism, superstitions, normative pressures and low religious affiliation); media factors (use of virtual space, internal media and external media); psychological factors (low self-confidence, social isolation and sense of inferiority), Political factors (basis of political ineffectiveness, political dissatisfaction, feeling of political discrimination, political anomie) and factors of failure (social deprivation, job failure, educational failure), there is a significant relationship between social factors (social disorder, social dissatisfaction, social anomie, feeling of injustice), background factors (level of education, age, socio-economic base and income level) and the social alienation.
